Your PM Kisan payment will stop if you have not completed eKYC. This is not a warning — it is already happening to lakhs of farmers across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana who missed the deadline or faced technical errors during verification.

The good news: completing eKYC takes less than 5 minutes if you have your Aadhaar-linked mobile phone nearby. The bad news: if you keep postponing it, your account gets flagged as “eKYC pending” and no installment will be credited until you fix it.

Here is exactly what eKYC means, why the government requires it every year, and how to complete it right now from your phone.

## What is eKYC and Why Does PM Kisan Require It?

eKYC stands for Electronic Know Your Customer. It is a digital identity verification process where the government confirms that you — the actual beneficiary — are still alive, still farming, and still eligible for the scheme.

The government introduced mandatory annual eKYC after discovering that crores of rupees were being sent to ineligible people — deceased farmers whose families never reported the death, people who sold their land but stayed registered, government employees who should not be receiving benefits, and even completely fake registrations.

By requiring you to verify your identity once every year through Aadhaar authentication, the system ensures that only genuine, living, eligible farmers continue receiving payments.

Think of it like renewing your bus pass. The pass itself is valid, but you need to show up once a year to prove you still use the route.

## The Consequence of Not Doing eKYC

This is straightforward: no eKYC = no money.

Your installment does not get cancelled permanently. It gets held. Once you complete eKYC, the pending installment is released (usually within 15-30 days). But if you delay for months, you might miss an entire installment cycle and receive it much later than everyone else.

Some farmers have reported that after very long delays (6+ months without eKYC), their registration was marked inactive and they had to re-register from scratch. Do not let it reach that point.

## Method 1: Complete eKYC Online Using Aadhaar OTP (Fastest)

This is the easiest method. You need: a phone with internet, your Aadhaar number, and the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar (to receive OTP).

Open your phone browser and go to pmkisan.gov.in

Look for “eKYC” option on the homepage. It is usually prominently displayed as a button or banner since the government wants people to complete it.

Click on eKYC. The page asks for your Aadhaar number.

Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number. Click “Search.”

The system checks if your Aadhaar is linked to a PM Kisan registration. If found, it shows your name and asks you to proceed with OTP verification.

Click “Get OTP.” A 6-digit code is sent to the mobile number registered with your Aadhaar (not your PM Kisan mobile number — your Aadhaar mobile number).

Enter the OTP within 3 minutes. Click “Submit.”

If the OTP matches, you see a success message: “eKYC completed successfully.” Your status updates to “eKYC Done” in the system.

That is it. Five steps, under five minutes.

## Method 2: Biometric eKYC at CSC Center

If your mobile number is not linked to Aadhaar, or if you are not receiving OTPs, you cannot do online eKYC. In that case, visit your nearest Common Service Center (CSC) for biometric verification.

What happens at the CSC:

The operator enters your Aadhaar number in the PM Kisan system. Instead of OTP, the system asks for fingerprint verification. You place your finger on the biometric scanner. The system matches your fingerprint with Aadhaar database. If matched, eKYC is complete.

CSC centers may charge Rs 15-25 as service fee for this. Carry your Aadhaar card (original) when you visit.

To find your nearest CSC center, search “CSC center near [your village/town name]” on Google, or ask at your gram panchayat office.

## Method 3: Through the PM Kisan Mobile App

Download the “PM Kisan” app from Google Play Store (official app by NIC). Open the app and navigate to the eKYC section. The process is identical to the website method — enter Aadhaar, receive OTP, verify.

The app sometimes works better than the website on slow internet connections because it is optimized for mobile data.

## Troubleshooting: When eKYC Fails

**”Aadhaar number not found in PM Kisan database”**

This means your PM Kisan registration has a different Aadhaar number than what you entered, or your registration was done without Aadhaar. Solution: Log in to PM Kisan portal, go to “Farmer Corner” > “Edit Aadhaar Details” and update your correct Aadhaar number. Wait 48 hours, then try eKYC again.

**”OTP not received”**

Three possible reasons. First, your mobile number in Aadhaar records is different from your current number — you need to update it at an Aadhaar center first. Second, network issues — wait 2-3 minutes and request OTP again. Third, you have exceeded the daily OTP limit (usually 3 attempts) — try again tomorrow.

**”Biometric authentication failed” at CSC**

Worn fingerprints (common in farmers who do manual labor) sometimes fail biometric matching. Solutions: Try a different finger. Clean your fingertip and the scanner. If all fingers fail, ask the CSC operator to try iris (eye) scan if their device supports it. As a last resort, visit an Aadhaar center to update your biometrics.

**”eKYC already completed” but payment still not received**

If the system shows eKYC is done but your installment has not arrived, the delay is likely due to a different reason — bank account mismatch, land verification pending, or state-level processing delay. Check your full beneficiary status for other error flags.

**Server error or portal not loading**

The PM Kisan portal gets extremely heavy traffic near installment dates and eKYC deadlines. If the site is slow or showing errors, try during off-peak hours — early morning (6-8 AM) or late night (after 10 PM) works best.

## When is the eKYC Deadline?

The government does not always announce a fixed “last date” for eKYC. Instead, the rule is: eKYC must be completed before the next installment is processed. If your eKYC is not done when the installment batch runs, your payment is held.

Practically, this means you should complete eKYC as soon as possible after each financial year begins (April). Do not wait for a deadline announcement. The earlier you do it, the less likely you face server issues or last-minute rushes.

For 2026, if you have not done eKYC since April 2025, do it today. Right now. It takes 5 minutes and saves you weeks of payment delays.

## Special Situations

**I am a new PM Kisan registrant. Do I need separate eKYC?**

If you registered recently (within the last 3-4 months) and used Aadhaar OTP during registration, your eKYC may already be marked as complete for this cycle. Check your beneficiary status to confirm. If it shows “eKYC: Done,” you are fine.

**My father was the beneficiary but passed away. I inherited the land. What about eKYC?**

You cannot do eKYC on a deceased person’s registration. You need to first get the land records transferred to your name, then register fresh on PM Kisan with your own Aadhaar. The old registration will be automatically deactivated once the death is reported.

**I have land in two states. Do I need eKYC for both?**

PM Kisan allows only one registration per family regardless of how many states you own land in. You should have only one active registration, and eKYC is done once for that single registration.

**I completed eKYC last year. Do I need to do it again?**

Yes. eKYC is annual. You need to complete it every financial year (April to March). Last year’s verification does not carry forward.

## Checking Your Current eKYC Status

If you are unsure whether your eKYC is already done or pending:

Go to pmkisan.gov.in > Farmer Corner > Beneficiary Status

Enter your Aadhaar number or registered mobile number

The status page shows multiple fields. Look for “eKYC Status” — it will say either “Done” with a date, or “Pending.”

If it says “Pending,” complete it immediately using the steps above.

## A Note About Scams

Some people receive phone calls or WhatsApp messages saying “Your PM Kisan eKYC is expiring, click this link to complete it” with a suspicious URL. These are scams.

The real PM Kisan eKYC is only done through:
– The official website pmkisan.gov.in
– The official PM Kisan mobile app (by NIC eGov)
– In-person at CSC centers

No government official will ever call you asking for OTP, bank details, or money to “process” your eKYC. If someone does, it is a fraud attempt. Hang up and report to your local police or the cybercrime helpline 1930.

## Summary: Your 2-Minute Action Plan

Open pmkisan.gov.in on your phone right now. Click eKYC. Enter Aadhaar. Get OTP. Submit. Done.

If OTP does not work: visit nearest CSC center with Aadhaar card tomorrow morning.

If Aadhaar mobile number is wrong: visit Aadhaar center first, update mobile, then do eKYC.

Do not postpone this. Every day you delay is a day closer to your next installment being held.
